REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) revised again its own rules that have been signed. More recently, the Government Regulation (PP) Number 46/2015 about Old Age Security (JHT). It was also not long ago, related to the polemics of Presidential Decree Number 39/2015, which regulates the advance purchase of cars for officials.

Political observers of Indonesia Political Indicators (IPI), Burhanuddin Muhtadi said the authority of President Jokowi will be at stake when the number one in Indonesia was repeatedly revised its own rules.

To explain it, Burhanuddin was comparing the leadership style of President Jokowi with the former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY). According to him, both have opposite characteristics.

"SBY tended to be a lot of consideration, but rather weak in execution level. Jokowi was too quick to execute. Sometimes it has not been through a thorough consideration," said Burhanuddin Muhtadi in a short message received by Republika on Monday, July 6.

Leadership style that was too focused on execution, Burhanuddin continued, will lead to excesses. For example, said Burhanuddin, appeared some government policies were later disallowed by him.

"Jokowi should combine the incremental and rational approach. Thus, a policy can be executed immediately but the precision and circumspection were taken into consideration," said Burhanuddin.

He considered that President Jokowi need to consolidate his aides in order to truly understand people’s real conditions. It was so that the impact of a policy could be anticipated before it was authorized and did not cause turmoil in society. Of course, according to Burhanuddin, it was more than just reading a draft before signing.

"Jokowi need to step on the gas pedal for accelerating development. But the brake pedal also not be forgotten," he said.
