REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Administrative reform minister Yuddy Chrisnandi helped line up passengers to check in at Terminal 2F at Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta airport due to fire at Terminal 2E Sunday morning.

A long queue was seen at Gate F4 used by passengers to enter due to the fire at Terminal 2E.

Minister Yuddy arrived at the airport at around 1pm and immediately met the airport authorities and 30 minutes afterwards Gate F4 was opened and the minister was seen standing at the gate.

"Please, ladies," he asked passengers to enter the gate while asking them to be patient when the gate was closed for a while to give time for airport workers check the passengers.

Minister Yuddy also inspected the terminal accompanied by several airport officers.

Earlier passengers had to stand in line for hours without any information regarding their flights.

The secretary general of PDIP, Hasto Kristianto, finally canceled his plan to go to Surabaya after waiting for too long regarding certainty of his flight.

"No clear information is given. We get information from porters," he told Antara.

He said Angkasa Pura (port operater) and Garuda Indonesia were disappointing for having practically not given information regarding what had happened and certainty of passengers' flights.

Hasto who was one of the passengers that witnessed the fire said there was confusion with regard to its management.

"We only heard announcement from speakers usually used to give flight announcement but the voice was overwhelmed by passengers' voices," he said.

He said he saw confusion and absence of port authorities officials giving directives, proving that Angkasa Pura and Garuda were not prepared in case of a crisis.

He said although the fire only affected one lounge airport operation system had failed to work.

"It shows how crisis management is declining," he said.
