President will still run the country from Solo

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will continue to fulfill his responsibility of running the country from Solo, Central Java, amid the wedding preparations and reception of his son, Gibran Rakabuming on Thursday.

"I will continue to run the government from Solo on June 10 and 11; I would still be working there. Once again, I would like to seek the blessings of the Indonesian people," the president told journalists in the Presidential Palace complex, here, Monday.

President Jokowi also revealed that he will be signing some important state official letters in Solo.

The president will be assisted by State Secretary Pratikno and Cabinet Secretary Andi Widjajanto in running the country from Solo.

Regarding his son's wedding, Jokowi sought the Indonesian people's blessings, so that the event can proceed smoothly without any obstacles.

"With regard to my son Gibran's wedding with Ananda Selvi on June 11, 2015, as a father and in keeping with the culture of Indonesia, especially Java, parents should be close to the bride to offer their blessings and prayers for the wedding ceremony to run smoothly. I sincerely seek the blessings of all the people of Indonesia for Gibran and Selvi, so that the couple can live happily until the end of their life," the president affirmed.

The president also planned to hold another tradition Javanese wedding ceremony known as "ngunduh-mantu" for his son in Jakarta.

According to the plan, the second wedding ceremony in Jakarta would be held after the upcoming Islamic holiday, Eid, in July 2015, but no date has been finalized.
