Indonesia technology readiness ranks 77 of 144 countries

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Industry Minister Saleh Husin said that to increase the competitiveness of the national economy needed innovation and technological readiness. However, unfortunately the technology readiness of Indonesia is still slow and is ranked 77 of 144 countries.

"It is reflects that the research results carried out by research and developments institutions functioned just to reports and publications,” said Saleh in a release received by ROL on Friday, June 5.

Besides, according to Saleh, the outcome technology was still not ready for use in the industrial sector. Therefore, Saleh asked for the revitalization of the technology of research and development functions to increase and accelerate the technology transfer.

"The efforts that could be done are to strengthen the structure of the industry through the development of priority industries according to the Law Number 3 of 2014 about industry," said Saleh.

Saleh affirmed, to produce research and development which required by industry, needed the commitment of stakeholders through the coordination and collaboration with clear division of roles. Saleh hoped the national industrial policy could run synergistic with policies and programs of other sectors.
