REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MATARAM -- West Nusa Tenggara province will host the Landscape Architecture Asia-Pacific Congress in August, Chairperson of Foreign Affairs of the Association of Indonesian Landscape Architecture Anggia Murni said here on Wednesday.
She added that the province was selected by the International Federation of Landscape Architects of the Asia-Pacific Region to host the event bearing in mind the eruption of Mount Tambora 200 years ago.
"Indonesia is a country that is largely composed of mountains and is located along the Ring of Fire. One of the most historic geological events in the country was the eruption of Mount Tambora," Murni stated.
Governor of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Zainul Majdi gave a positive response and appreciated the event, she affirmed.
The governor emphasized that the safety and comfort of participants must be prioritized and hoped that the event would embrace all aspects of life.
"I hope the event includes all aspects and benefits all parties," the governor remarked.
According to Murni, 14 countries will participate in the Landscape Architecture Asia-Pacific Congress.
The event aims to provide guidance on ways to organize and manage landscapes in cities located along the Ring of Fire.
"Later, governments, administrations and communities can organize and set up their cities and districts better," Murni noted.
