DPR supports policy of ‘one time hajj’

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Commission VIII of the House of Representatives (DPR) supported Ministry of Religious Affairs that released the Regulation of Minister of Religious Affairs to organize Hajj policy just one time for a person. Chairman of Commission VIII, Saleh Partaonan Daulay said with the existence of these rules, the people who want to go Hajj will get fairness, especially for those with limited wealth.

"I see it as a good rule. In meetings with ministry, commission VIII often asks this question. In fact, commission VIII urged that the rules to be applied immediately," said Saleh on Thursday, May 28.

About deadline for registration which was set is 10 years laters, he admitted not to object it. According to him, Ministry of Religious Affairs must be has been clearly calculate it, related to the determination of the time.

He said, based on ministry calculation, it was probably able to reduce waiting lists number. "The focus of DPR is how to overcome the long lines. By doing so, the organization of hajj could be better in the future," he said.

He hoped that such a rule could be a solution to overcome a long line of pilgrims who wanted to go to the holy land. Previously reported, the Ministry of Religious Affairs has made the regulations related to the one time Hajj policy. Minister of Religious Affairs, Lukman Hakim Saifuddin said the pilgrims were already implementing hajj rule where one could register again for hajj after 10 years of period.
