REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) announced on Wednesday a significant cut of US$502 in hajj pilgrimage cost to US$2,717 in 2015.
Jokowi said the government could cut the cost on success in improving efficiency.
Efficiency has been made in flight route, land transport, in accommodation in Mecca, he said.
The president, however, said efficiency must not cost a cut in the quality of services for the pilgrims.
Religious Affairs Minister Lukman Hakim Saifuddin said cost efficiency would not cause degradation of quality of pilgrimage service.
"There is even an improvement in service in Mecca," he said.
