REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, AMBON -- Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo has threatened to fire any governors, mayors, or district heads opposing the simultaneous regional head elections to be held on December 9, 2015.
"We will fire any rebellious regional heads," Minister Kumolo stated here on Monday (26/5).
Every regional head is obliged to make the regional head elections a success, he noted.
The first stage of the regional head elections will be held in December 2015 in 269 regions comprising nine provinces, 36 cities, and 224 districts.
The four districts in Maluku are Seram Bagian Timur (SBT), Aru Islands, South Buru, and Southwest Maluku.
"So, the district heads in the four districts in Maluku must abide by the existing regulations. If they oppose it, I will fire them," he emphasized.
The funds allocated for the simultaneous regional head elections are adequate, and the regional administrations are allowed to utilize parts of the budget from other fields except budget allocations for education, health, and public welfare, for the implementation of the local elections, he remarked.
