Indonesia and World Bank to eradicate poverty

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President of World Bank, Jim Yong Kim, met President Jokowi at the State Palace on Wednesday, May 20. The meeting was to discuss the eradication of poverty.

Both discussed about the cooperation plan between the World Bank and the Indonesian government in three main areas. The three areas are in the field of health, especially maternal and infant nutrition, improvement of the business climate as well as the ease of doing business in Indonesia, and tourism sectors.

Minister of Finance, Bambang Brodjonegoro said the World Bank's plan is in line with the ideals of President Joko Widodo to bring in more tourists.

"So that it could help our macro economy," Bambang said after meeting the President and the delegation of the World Bank at the State Palace on Wednesday, May 20.

President of World Bank, Jim Yong Kim, admitted that he know much about Indonesia from the Managing Director of World Bank, Sri Mulyani. Previously, Sri served as Minister of Finance of Indonesia during the reign of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
