REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BEKASI -- Sanitation Department of Bekasi City planned to install Global Positioning System (GPS) on every garbage truck. The installation goal is to reduce the accumulation of garbage in every area of Bekasi City.
Head of Bekasi Sanitation Department, Abdillah said the installation of GPS will be implemented in 2016 with the number of 162 garbage trucks. "We will be held GPS as our control to improve supervision in sanitation department," he said on Monday, May 18.
Some time ago, the accumulation of garbage was often complained by the community of Bekasi, because garbage trucks’s movement to the location of Integrated Waste Disposal (TPST) in Bantargebang was experiencing delay.
Meanwhile, according to Abdillah, beside the delay of garbage trucks, people were also often late to throw garbage. So, there was still some garbage that has not been transported.
To further maximize transportation of the waste, Abdillah said that the sanitation departments need the cooperation of the community. People are encouraged not to be late in taking out the waste. By doing so, it will help reduce the volume of waste in various places.
