Makassar represents Indonesia in Safe Cities Asia Forum

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MAKASSAR -- The South Sulawesi provincial city of Makassar represented Indonesia in the Safe Cities Asia forum that took place at the Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre in Singapore.

"Thanks to God, the Safe Cities Asia activity took place on Wednesday, May 13. Indonesia was represented by Makassar," Mayor of Makassar Moh Ramdhan Pomanto said in an email from Singapore on Thursday.

Pomanto was one of the eight keynote speakers at the Safe Cities Asia forum, which was held particularly to talk about the concept of a comfortable and safe city.

In his speech, the mayor explained Makassar's "Smart City" concept to reduce criminal cases in the city.

The smart city concept emphasizes on the importance of detecting criminal activities, among others, Pomanto pointed out.

In addition, the concept is also related to education and tourism.
