OJK: Quality of governance still a problem

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DENPASAR -- Chairman of the Board of Audit and member of the Board of Commissioners Financial Services Authority (OJK), Ilya Avianti said the quality of governance is still a major problem in the business world in Indonesia. Data from the World Economic Forum (WEF) in 2013 showed as many as 15.7 percent of business leaders expressed the biggest problem are corruption.

"Corruption is the biggest problem, besides the bureaucracy (8.3 percent), and inconsistent policies (6.9 percent)," said Ilya in Financial Journalism Education of OJK in Kuta, on Tuesday, May 12.

Before OJK was formed, the World Bank Governance Indicator gives a score below 50 on a scale of 100 for quality of good governance in Indonesia. Ilya hoped that with the establishment of OJK will improve the quality of good governance in financial industry. OJK become a role model.

There are three main pillars of OJK in the area of governance in this year, namely controlling gratification, antifraud functions of the OJK, and the revitalization of the whistle blowing system (WBS). Gratification control program, said Ilya became OJK steps along the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), for the gratification is the beginning of corruption.

Second, antifraud function to familiarize OJK to reports any fraud. Third, the revitalization of WBS newly launched on March 31, 2015 involving a number of stakeholders as a consultant.
