REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MANILA -- Some 10,200 passengers were stranded in different ports in the Philippines as typhoon Noul, locally known as Dodong, is expected to make a landfall on Sunday, the state disaster management agency said Saturday (10/5).

Citing the report of the state weather forecasting agency, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Noul has slowed down as it moves toward the eastern coast of northern Luzon.

The Philippine Coast Guard did not allow 33 vessels and 16 motorbancas to sail in the sea.

The typhoon was expected to make landfall over the cost of Isabela-Cagayan area in northern Philippines by Sunday morning. It will exit the landmass via Aparri in Cagayan Sunday afternoon, and leave the Philippines by Tuesday morning.

Government agencies have been monitoring the situation in areas to be hit by the typhoon for possible evacuation of residents, NDRRMC said.
