REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SAMPIT -- The district administration of East Kotawaringin, Central Kalimantan, will distribute assistance in solar power generating sets (PLTS).

"This year there are 200 units of PLTS to be distributed for backward communities. The assistance is procured with fund from the district's budget," head of the oil and gas division of the East Kotawariningin mining and energy office Dedi Jauhari said here on Wednesday (6/5).

The six backward villages are Tumbang Saluang, Tumbang Sapia and Lunuk Bagantung in the sub-district of Bukit Santuei, villages of Tumbang Puan and Luwuk Puan in the sub-district of Telaga Antang and thye village of Kuluk Telawang in the sub-district of Antang Kalang.

The villages are selected based on the decision of Central Kalimantan Governor.

The process of auction has been held and in early June, the PLTS would be installed in the house of the villagers winning the auction.

In addition from the budget of the district of East Kotawaringin, assistance of more than 250 units of PLTS also came from the provincial administration for the village of Kapuk.

In 2014, similar assistance of 97 units of PLTS were distributed for the village of Pahirangan.

Dedi said many villagers asked for more assistance but there was limited budget to meet the requirement.

There are 15,664 households not yet covered by the electrification program of the national power utility PLN. Those using PLTS total 2,947 households.
