REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LONDON -- Britain's Duchess of Cambridge Kate gave birth to a girl on Saturday morning, adding a new member for the British royal family.

"Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge safely delivered a daughter at 8:34 a.m.," Kensington Palace announced.

The baby weighs 8 lbs 3 oz, about 3.7 kilograms. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth.

Kensington Palace said The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed.

Party leaders tweeted their congratulations for the royal family.

"Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the birth of their baby girl. I'm absolutely delighted for them," Prime Minister David Cameron wrote on Twitter.

Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg said he and his wife Miriam wished "them all the best as their family grows."

Labor leader Ed Miliband tweeted: "Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess on the birth of their daughter. Wishing them lots of joy and happiness - and hopefully some sleep!"

Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to the baby at St. Mary's Hospital in west London, where Prince George and Prince William and Prince Harry were also born.

Kensington Palace said the Duchess of Cambridge was admitted at 6:00 a.m. local time (5: 00 GMT) to the hospital, and traveled by car from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing at St. Mary's Hospital.

Reporters and royal family fans had waited the news outside the hospital. The news was not released until 11:00 a.m. local time. People were crying and cheering after the announcement.

The newborn Princess is now the forth in line to the British throne, behind her brother George, father William and grandfather Prince Charles.

An official notice showing details of the birth of the girl has been placed on an easel at Buckingham Palace as a tradition. It will be shown for 24 hours.

The name of the baby hasn't be released so far. People need days or weeks to wait. But gamblers have taken bets on the name of the baby. Some of the most popular names are Alice, Charlotte, Victoria and Elizabeth.

Duke of Cambridge (32) and the Duchess (33) met as students at St. Andrews University in Scotland. They married in April 2011, and their first son, Prince George was born in July 2013.

Some iconic London building have also celebrated the birth of the baby, including the Tower Bridge glowed pink, while the BT Tower showed "it's a girl" on the screen at the top of the building.

The Royal Mail said a special postmark would be stamped on all letters on Tuesday to commemorate the royal birth. It will be the first time that the company has marked a royal birth in this way in its 500 history.

People are now waiting to see the couple, but there's no official sources that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will show up with their baby.
