REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAYAPURA -- Russia is offering scholarships to students from Papua, Indonesia's easternmost province, to pursue higher studies in the country.
"We have discussed the possibility of the Jayapura city administration and the Papua provincial government sending students to study in Russia," Consulate of the Russian Federation Teoh Seng Lee said after a meeting with Jayapura Deputy Mayor Nuralam on Thursday (30/4).
This is the first time that Russia has offered scholarships to Papuan students to study in the country.
"Students from other regions in Indonesia already have the privilege of studying in Russia. It is the first time we have offered Papua a cooperation deal to send students to Russia," he remarked.
He added that students will be offered courses in civil engineering, agriculture, and aviation at Russian University.
