REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia's House of Representatives (DPR) to host Asia-Africa Parliamentary Conference themed "Strengthening the Role of Parliaments in South-South Cooperation to Promote World Peace and Prosperity" here on Thursday (23/4).
Numerous state officials who will deliver their speech at the meeting are among others Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee Chairperson Nurhayati Ali Assegaf, House Speaker Setya Novanto, Former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Vice Chairmen of the House of Representatives Fadli Zon and Fachri Hamzah.
The forum will discuss a number of issues including cooperation in promoting the development in Asian African countries, the new Asian-African Strategic Partnership (NAASP), the recognition of Palestine.
Earlier, Chairman of the House of Representatives Setya Novanto remarked that Asia Africa Parliamentary Conference will declare support for policy which is produced by heads of state in the 60th Asia Africa Conference.
"Asia Africa Parliamentary Conference is a meeting between the chairman of parliament of South-South state. The forum will discuss the independence of Palestine, sustainable development, health, and poverty," Setya Novanto said here on Thursday.
"The forum will be the subject matter, as well as to discuss bilateral cooperation in trade, infrastructures, agriculture and other fields of investment for promoting Asian-African countries," he said.
The meeting will be opened by President Joko Widodo and Former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will be the main speaker.
Novanto stated that the forum will be an interesting session on the sidelines of the Asia-Africa Conference.
As reported, Asia Africa Parliamentary Conference will be attended by representatives of other countries, parliamentary leaders of the Asian-African countries, ambassadors, and diplomats.
