REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- Bandung will host an Asian African student conference to be held from April 30 to May 1 to follow the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of Asian-African Conference taking place from April 19 to 24 in the West Java city.
"At least 270 students have been registered . They are from 28 African countries, 21 Asian countries and three other countries - France, Serbia and Australia, as observers," head of the Asian African Museum Thomas Siregar said here on Sunday (19/4).
The student conference is a form of contribution in studying Asian-African issues.
They will discus and find solutions to the problems in the two continents, Thomas said.
"The student conference will give greater substance to the Bandung Asian African Conference," he said.
He said the student delegates to the conference are from various countries in the two continents studying at various universities in Indonesia.
"We hope they will have positive results from the conference to be contributed to their respective countries," he said.
Thomas said such conference was held in Bandung in June 1956 but after that it was never held anymore.
The three-day conference will discuss six big issues such as promotion of Asia African culture , formulation of strategy to promote inclusive education, entrepreneurship, mass media , digital freedom and student networks.
President of the student conference Yasmin N Chaerunissa said cultural issue would be the first in the agenda.
"The student conference is expected to strengthen cooperation among the students to find solution to various problem in Asia and Africa," he said.
