REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA -- Former president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and former vice president Boediono attended the inauguration of Chairul Tanjung as a professor of Surabaya-based Airlangga University (Unair) on Saturday.
Tanjung, who was the coordinating minister for economic affairs in the SBY-Boediono government, is the university's 438th professor.
Minister of Research and High Education M. Nasir, Manpower Minister M. Hanif Dhakiri, Industry Minister Saleh Husin, and Agrarian/Spatial Planning Minister Ferry Mursyidan Baldan also attended the inauguration.
Also present at the event were Supreme Court Chairman Hatta Ali, Constitutional Court Chairman Arief Hidayat, Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly Zulkifli Hasan, Chairman of the House of Representatives Setya Novanto, Deputy Chief of the Regional Representative Council Farouk Muhammad, and Naval Chief of Staff Admiral Ade Supandi.
Former minister/state secretary Sudi Silalahi, former education and culture minister Mohammad Nuh, and former coordinating minister for political, legal and security affairs Djoko Suyanto also attended the event.
Also seen attending the ceremony were former coordinating minister for economic affairs Hatta Rajasa, Chairman of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Muhaimin Iskandar, Deputy Chairman of the Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party Fadli Zon, the governors of East Java, North Sulawesi, and South Kalimantan, the deputy governor of East Java, chief of the Brawijaya Regional Military Command, chief of the East Java provincial police, and the mayor of Surabaya.
In his inaugural address, Tanjung said: "Business is not merely pragmatism or making money, but a combination of pragmatism, idealism and value order. Idealism is related to businesses that do not legitimize any means to make them continue in the long run, while value order is related to businesses that benefit the public. In essence, business is a means to find God's blessing."
