REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The planned execution of death row convicts will be carried out after the implementation of the Asia-Africa Conference (AAC) scheduled on April 19-24, 2015, in Jakarta and Bandung, West Java, stated Attorney General M. Prasetyo.

It would be unethical to proceed with the execution prior to the AAC, Prasetyo noted after attending a banquet hosted by President Joko Widodo for Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg here on Tuesday evening.

As the AAC host, Indonesia will welcome several heads of state and government, he added.

"But, for sure, we will carry out (the execution)," he stated.

Judicial reviews applied by the convicts, particularly Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan of Australia, to the Constitutional Court will not affect the execution plan as the president has rejected the convicts' pleas for clemency.

"The judicial reviews have no effect, because whatever the verdicts are, it is for the legal certainty in the future, so the execution plan will still proceed," he emphasized.

According to plans, the executions will be carried out simultaneously on the Nuskambangan Island.

The AGO earlier said that it had postponed the execution pending the results of the judicial reviews from the Supreme Court (MA).

"We are waiting for the legal process to be completed. There are still pending judicial reviews filed with the MA by Sylvestre, Serge Areski Atlaoui (of France), and Martin Anderson alias Belo (of Ghana)," Prasetyo stated in March 2015.
