REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LOMBOK TENGAH -- President Joko Widodo has vowed to follow up on the results of his current working visit to West Nusa Tenggara province post haste, including on the development of the Mandalika Exclusive Economic Zone.
"We will implement them immediately, including the Mandalika project. We will discuss the subject in a cabinet meeting," he affirmed before boarding a flight to Jakarta at Lombok International Airport on Saturday.
He added that the injection of funds totaling Rp250 billion will be realized this year, while the remaining Rp1.8 trillion will be provided next year.
The funds will be given to state-owned company Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), which will manage the Mandalika project.
"Following up on the actions to ensure investment inflow and implementation in the field is important," the president emphasized.
Jokowi further noted that this year, the runway of Lombok International Airport will also be extended to 3,000 meters, and the project is expected to be completed within the year so that big planes can land there.
With regard to the budget, he stated that he did not know the exact amount, but had ordered airport operator PT Angkasa Pura I to complete the project this year.
Moreover, regarding Tambora, President Joko Widodo noted that its strength could be revived.
"There is potential to develop both the sea and bay in the region. The tourism sector must be developed, starting with organizing the Tambora Festival," he pointed out.
