REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) held a limited meeting at his office on Tuesday to discuss illegal fishing, including sustainable ways to address the issue.
"We are going to discuss illegal fishing and the achievements we have made in the area of law enforcement against it," President Jokowi remarked while opening the meeting.
Besides law enforcement against illegal fishing, the president also sought cooperation among relevant institutions to ensure the successful handling of fish theft and smuggling.
He stated that the Marine Affairs and Fisheries Ministry should coordinate with the Indonesian Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (INTRAC) to uncover data about illegal fishing and to take action in accordance with the existing data.
