REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is committed to improving the functions of economic diplomacy that can directly benefit the people's welfare, Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister A.M. Fachir said in a press statement on Saturday.

"The Foreign Affairs Ministry will continue to work hard to strengthen the function of economic diplomacy in order to contribute to the eradication of poverty and improve the standard of education and health for the people of Indonesia," Fachir said in the statement.

He delivered these remarks while speaking before the leaders and members of the Regional Representative Council (DPD), regional heads, and foreign ambassadors at a diplomatic meeting hosted by the DPD on Friday.

Fachir noted that Indonesia's economic diplomacy will be more focused to achieve real benefits that are felt by the people, and is not just a ceremonial agreement without any follow-up.

He further added that diplomatic meetings would continue to be held to encourage maximum diplomatic efforts.
