REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, RIYADH -- Saudi Arabia on Thursday denied any intention for land military operations in Yemen, Sabq online newspaper reported.
The Saudi-led coalition forces started their air raid early Thursday in Yemen, including the capital Sanaa, the Houthi stronghold of Saada province and the southern Lahj province.
The commander of Thursday's Decisive Storm operations made the remarks at a press conference in Riyadh.
He said all troops are ready for any emergency, while currently the airstrike will be the main operations.
The commander said the first phase of the operation aims to defeat air defence of the Houthi militia and attack air forces bases to destroy airplanes, command centers and missiles.
The military spokesperson of the operation, Colonel Ahmed Asiri, said Saudi Arabia won't allow the Houthis to receive any assistance or supplies.
He said the Houthis tried to move towards the southern border of Saudi Arabia, but the forces prevented their progress.
