REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- General Chairman of the People's Conscience Party (Hanura) Wiranto met Vice President Jusuf Kalla to discuss the current political developments in the country.

"He (Kalla), as a leader of the bureaucracy in Indonesia, and I, as a leader of one of the country's political parties, met to discuss various developments in the country, including how Indonesia can face them, so that all could be under good control," Wiranto stated at the Vice Presidential Office on Wednesday.

When questioned regarding the nomination of Commissioner General Badrodin Haiti as the National Police chief candidate being rejected by the House of Representatives (DPR), Wiranto noted that the decision should be left to the mechanism of President Joko Widodo and the House relations.

"I have been informed that there is a procedural mechanism that needs to be followed. So, let us wait for it," he remarked.

He pointed out that the government and DPR should solve the candidacy issue of the National Police chief.

The Hanura chairman stated that if the matter was not settled soon, it could affect the security situation in Indonesia.

"It should not protract too long for the police to face a problem such as this. Moreover, it is about its leader. This is important," Wiranto added.
