REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PEKANBARU -- A mother Narsih (32) and her son Muhammad Reza (4) went missing on Saturday night after a barge carrying logs, hit a small boat where the two persons were on board, an official has said.

"The accident occurred in the waters of Kampar River, Pelalawan sub-district on Saturday (March 21)," head of the regional disaster mitigation and firefighters agency (BPBPKD) Abu Bakar FE said here on Sunday.

Narsih and her son Muhammad Reza went missing as their boat capsized after being struck by the barge.

"Rescuers have been deployed to find the missing persons in the Kampar river," Abu Bakar noted, adding that his office will cooperate with the national SAR agency to field teams equipped with the complete equipment.
