REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Agung Laksono gave assurance here on Tuesday he will not dismiss any cadres after his leadership of the Golkar Party was accepted by the government.

"There will be no dismissal. We would not like to develop animosity. We appeal to and open our door widely for board members appointed at the Bali congress (the Aburizal Bakrie camp) to join. We are all brothers," he remarked during a press conference at the Golkar Party Headquarters.

Laksono noted that he had not yet thought about making any changes with regard to the structure of the Golkar Party faction in the House of Representatives and parliamentary leadership.

However, he confirmed that there would be a change of leadership in the regional chapters.

"The term of office of all heads of regional chapters has ended," he emphasized.

With regard to preparations for the regional head elections, Agung said he would immediately contact the General Elections Commission (KPU) to report the government's decision regarding his leadership of the Golkar Party.

"We believe that the KPU will use legality principles in responding to it. It was the board set up in the Riau congress that has so far been recognized, but now, it is our board (set up in the Jakarta congress)," he pointed out.

Minister of Justice and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly issued a decision here on Tuesday to recognize the Golkar Party under Agung Laksono's leadership.

In this regard, the minister has urged Agung to immediately set up a new Golkar Party board by accommodating board members who were earlier under the rival leader Aburizal Bakri, in line with the decision of the party tribunal.
