REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, better known as Ahok, is reportedly suffering from dengue fever, according to Deputy Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat.
Djarot stated that the governor failed to chair Monday's regular meeting at the City Hall on Monday due to his illness.
"In place of the governor, I chaired the meeting as he is suffering from dengue fever and was absent from office. We have to understand that the dengue-carrying Aedes aegypti mosquito can bite any person," Djarot noted after the meeting at the City Hall on Monday.
The former mayor of Blitar expressed hope that Ahok could receive medical treatment at the hospital to ensure his speedy recovery, so that he could soon join office.
"We certainly have to pray for his recovery. I suggested that he should be treated in the hospital, so that he can get well soon," the Jakarta deputy governor remarked.
