REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA -- The Surabaya city government is validating a report regarding 10 local residents who had reportedly gone missing in Turkey and are feared to have joined the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) group.

"Their addresses mentioned in the family card are different from their residences. Many of them have changed their residence," Head of the City Demography and Vital Statistics Office Suharto Wardoyo remarked here on Sunday (8/3).

Suharto said he had sought help from the sub-district government to check the addresses of the residents who reportedly went missing in Turkey.

"The sub-district head has checked their residence addresses, fearing that they have changed them," he stated.

A source earlier noted that several families in East Java had joined the trip to Turkey. One of the families comprises six people who live at Jalan Kanser 35, Ploso, Tambaksari, Surabaya. The family members are Jusman Ary Sandy (husband), Ulin Isnuri (wife), and four children: Urayna Afra (17), Dayyan Akhtar (7), Aura Kordova (9), and Humaira Hafshah (1).

Tambaksari Sub-District Head Zaini stated that only the mother of Ulin Insure lived at the house at Kanser Street, while the family of Jusman Ary had moved to Jl. Kedungroko V/28 A since February 23, 2015.

Indonesia continues its intensive efforts to trace its 16 citizens who vanished during their visit to Turkey and are feared to have joined the ISIS group.

"There are actually 24 people who joined a tour to Turkey. We are still seeking the missing 16," Foreign Ministry spokesman Arrmanatha Nasir noted here last Friday.

He added that most of the missing Indonesians were from Surabaya (East Java) and others from Surakarta (Central Java).

Arrmanatha explained that soon after their arrival in Istanbul, they separated from the tour group and did not visit the tourist locations outlined in the tour schedule.

"They said they would not join the group on the tour but would visit the locations themselves and later join the group again in a certain city before returning to Indonesia," he added.
