REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chairman of the Golkar Party's tribunal Muladi said he was offended by the Aburizal Bakrie faction planning to continue with legal proceeding after the tribunal given the victory to rival faction Agung Laksono.

The country's oldest party had been split into two with Aburizal leading a faction based on the party's congress in Bali and another under Agung based on a Jakarta congress of the party later.

Aburizal attempt to win legitimacy through court has been rejected by the West Jakarta district court, and earlier Agung's similar attempt was turned down by the Central Jakarta district court.

The two factions, therefore, hoped to settle their dispute internally through party tribunal.

However, after hearing its defeat the Aburizal faction announced plan to continue with the legal proceeding by appealing the West Jakarta court verdict to the Supreme court.

"The party tribunal was offended, but let them go ahead their way ," Muladi said here on Wednesday.

He said the move by Aburizal faction to continue with the legal proceeding was a form of rejection of the decision of the tribunal as an official body of the party to settle internal dispute.

"By planning to appeal , they have denied the result of the three sessions of the tribunal, he added.

He said the tribunal judges originally planned to facilitate reconciliation to put an end to the conflict by inviting senior leaders of the country's second largest party such as Vice President Jusuf Kalla , former President BJ Habibie and former minister of public housing Siswono Yudho Husodo.

In announcing its final decision on Tuesday, the tribunal recommended the winning faction to avoid the principle of "winner takes it all", instead it should appreciate the losing faction.

It also called for the rehabilitation of cadres dismissed earlier over the dispute in policy and asked the losing faction not to seek to form a new party.

Muladi said he regretted the plan to seek appeal to Supreme Court after the West Jakarta District Court greed to reject lawsuit by the Aburizal faction in respect for the tribunal.

Earlier , the lawyer of the Aburizal faction Yusril Ihza Mahendra said his client decided to proceed with the appeal plan as the tribunal was not independent and the members were not representatives.

"The tribunal sent letter several time to the West Jakartas district court to hold court decision. It was an intervention in the court," Yusril said.
