REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Two Iranian Naval ships, Naghdi and Bandar Abbas, arrived in the Indonesian capital city of Jakarta for a three-day visit.
The Naghdi is a battle ship, while Bandar Abbas is a logistics carrying ship and carried a number of students of the Islamic Republic of Iran's Navy Academy, a statement of the Iranian Embassy stated here on Saturday, February 28.
It is the second visit of the Iranian naval ships to Indonesia after the first in 1980's. Both ships had crossed Aden Gulf and conducted battle operation against pirates in the area and the ships had also visited India and Sri Lanka.
The ships carry missions such as operation, training and education to the members of Islamic Republic of Iran Navy Academy. The ships' visit to Indonesia was aimed among other things to enhance the bilateral relations.
