Ambassadors to attend Durian Lolong Festival

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PEKALONGAN -- Several ambassadors to Indonesia are scheduled to attend the Durian Lolong Festival 2015 to be held in Lolong village, Pekalongan district, Central Java province, on March 8. The ambassadors are from the United States, Libya, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, and some Middle East countries.

"The ambassadors are interested to visit the festival after watching the art performance presented by the Pekalongan communities in Jakarta recently," said Ali Reza, Head of Pekalongan's Tourism, Culture and Sports office, said on Thursday, February 26.

The Durian Lolong festival is an annual tourist event initiated by the Karanganyar sub-district community, especially by those living in Lolong village, Pekalongan district. Lolong village is known for the central superior local durian.

Karanggondang, Limbangan, and Lolong are part of Kabalong tourism destination. The main tourism potentials of these three villages, besides the durian fruit, are fishing spots, mountain forests, and nature tourism spots.

The ambassadors will participate in a batik workshop and enjoy the art performances during dinner. "We hope that the visit of these ambassadors will help to attract local and foreign tourists to Pekalongan and other tourism destinations in Central Java," Ali said.
