REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MAKASSAR -- The South and West Sulawesi Regional Police have named Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Chief Abraham Samad (AS) a suspect in an alleged document falsification case.
"AS has been named as a suspect since February 9. His naming as a suspect is based on a case expose carried out by the South Sulawesi Regional Police, which followed up an expose conducted by the Headquarters of the National Police (Mabes Polri) on February 5," Spokesman of the South and West Sulawesi Police Senior Commissioner Endi Sutendi stated on Tuesday, February 17.
He noted that a cautious approach was adopted while naming AS a suspect. The investigators revealed about the case only after they had gathered adequate pieces of strong evidence.
AS is named a suspect for allegedly falsifying a residence administration document based on a report by Feriyani Lim. In that case, the South Sulawesi Regional Police has also named Feriyani Lim as a suspect. Feriyani was named a suspect after the Regional Police investigators questioned about 20 witnesses.
Witnesses who underwent questioning were state apparatuses from the levels of RT neighborhood, village, sub-district, population service office, and civil registration office in Makassar.
This case was recently reported by the KPK and National Police Care Institution Chairman Chairil Chaidar Said to the Criminal Investigation Department of the National Police Headquarters. The case was then transferred to the South and West Sulawesi Regional Police on January 29, 2015. Four days later, the police named Feriyani as a suspect.
In this case, Feriyani is believed to have falsified copies of the Family Card (KK) and Identity Card (KTP) when she was applying for the issuance of a passport in Makassar in 2007. The document falsification case later involved the KPK Chairman AS, who allegedly helped Feriyani during the document issuance process.
The KK of the suspect in Makassar contained the identities of AS and his family members domiciling in Jalan Boulevard Rubi II No. 48, Masale Village, Panakukang Sub-district. However, several witnesses in the RT, village and sub-district levels said AS and Feriyani were never registered as residents of Panakukang.
"I have checked it in the population registration book and in the data on the last regional head election, and there are no names such as AS and Feriyani Lim," noted Idris Husain, the head of RT 003/RW 005 neighborhood of the Masale Village.
