REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BADUNG -- Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman has praised the Badung district government in the resort island of Bali for protecting and developing the agriculture sector in the district.
"The Badung district government's performance has been very good thanks to the district head's hard work," he said while visiting Cemagi village, Badung district, on Friday.
He also lauded Badung district head Anak Agung Gde Agung for his breakthroughs in the agriculture sector despite increasing changes in land uses.
Anak Agung Gde Agung noted that the district government's numerous breakthrough efforts include giving land and building tax exemptions to farmers owing farmland in green belts.
"We have also exempted them from tax on beneficiaries," he added.
Gde Agung, who is also known as a Puri Mengwi figure, has made it mandatory for every civil servant in the Bandung district government to buy at least 5 kilograms of local rice, he remarked.
The move is expected to support farmers in the richest district in Bali, he stated.
