REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Statistics Agency (BPS) announces Indonesian economic growth in 2014 is 5.02 percent, slowing down from the previous year which grew by 5.58 percent. Indonesian economic growth has been slowing down since the last five years.
Indonesia grew by 6.38 percent in 2011. It declined to 6.17 in 2011 and 6.03 percent in 2012.
"The slow down on economic growth is due to government's policy on budget cut by the end of last year," Suryamin said on Thursday, February 5.
Government spending in 2014 only grew by 1.98 percent, declining sharply from the previous year which grew by 6.93 percent. "Government spending declined drastically," he added.
Economic growth last year was supported by manufacture which contributed to 21.01 percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) which hit 10,542.7 trillion IDR. Manufacture has a high contribution due to general election.
