REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, GORONTALO -- The North Gorontalo district administration, in a bid to meet its export target, will build more cold storages to accommodate the fish production, Roni Imran, the district's deputy head, stated here on Tuesday.

The administration, through the Marine and Fishery Office, has built a cool storage in Gentuma sub-district to facilitate fishery production.

In order to maximize fish production, the same facilities will also be built at the fish auction sites at Kwandang Seaport, Sumalata, and Tolinggula.

"We hope that with more cold storages being built, the fish production will reach 20 thousand per year," Roni affirmed.

According to him, cold storages are the solution for fishermen to store and preserve their production in North Gorontalo, which will prove to be profitable for the district.

In 2015, the district will gain a special state budget allocation to develop the Anggrek Seaport, amounting to Rp33.9 billion, or about US$2,686,758.06 and Rp8.19 billion, or about US$705,373.06 to develop the Kwandang Seaport.

In addition, the district administration will get five units of fishing vessels of over 30 Gross Tons (GT).

"We hope the facilities and infrastructure can support the people to improve their welfare, especially for the three thousand fishermen who are living in the 52 coastal villages," Roni added.
