REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PARIS -- France on Tuesday condemned an attack against a hotel in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, where 11 people died including a French national.

The Foreign Ministry said that "those responsible for this odious act must be made answer for their actions," according to a statement.

Hotel Corinthia in Tripoli came under attack earlier Tuesday by gunmen and there were also explosions at the site.

The hotel is frequented by diplomats and businessmen, many from Western nations.

Paris called for supporting a UN-led process that is underway in Geneva to bring a settlement between the warring factions in Libya.

The Libyan branch of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) has reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack, posting a photo of one of the three Corinthia Hotel attackers, named Abu Ibrahim Al-Tunisi.
