Indonesia conveys condolences on death of Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Indonesian government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed its deepest condolences on the death of Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz in Riyadh.

"Indonesia conveys its deepest condolences. May Allah, the Almighty and Merciful, give forgiveness and peace to the King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz as well as provide courage and strength to the entire royal family," according to an official written statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received here on Friday.

King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud's demise is a major loss for the people of Saudi Arabia and the world.

King Abdullah was known as a person who brought renewal and prosperity to the nation and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia is an important partner of Indonesia in the Middle East.

King Abdullah died on Friday morning at the age of 90. He had been undergoing treatment for pneumonia at the hospital for several weeks.

His brother, Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud will become the new king of Saudi Arabia.
