REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The National Development Planning Ministry/National Development Planning Board (Bappenas) held a meeting with Timor Leste-Indonesia-Australia Growth Triangle Unit (TIA-GT) Chief Joao Mendes Gonclves on Tuesday to discuss follow-up development cooperation.
Goncalves, who arrived at the Bappenas office at noon on Tuesday, was greeted by National Development Minister (Head of the Bappenas) Andrinof A. Chaniago. Both sides held a ten-minute meeting. The discussion then continued with the Minister's Deputy, Wismana Adi Suryabrata, to deliberate work plans such as a workshop for delegates from the three countries.
The workshop is expected to be held in Darwin, Australia, in February-March 2015.
"The workshop will map out important points that the three countries will then prioritize," he added.
Development along border areas will be carried out not only through economic policies but also through social and cultural approaches to improve the quality of relationship between individuals living along border zones, he noted.
On Monday, Goncalves also visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss the socio-economic trilateral cooperation between the three countries.
The cooperation between the three countries began in 2012 involving then heads of state: Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Timor Leste Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao, and former Australian prime minister Julia Gillard.
