REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of Religious Affairs Lukman Hakim Saifuddin stated that the ministry did not see any problems with foreign teachers. He emphasized that it was a rare case that a foreign religious teacher spread radicalism, terrorism and extremism.

His comment is following the recent statement from Minister of Manpower Hanif Dhakiri. Minister Dhakiri banned foreign workers to teach Theology of every religion in every school and university. The policy is aimed to prevent radicalism.

Minister Saifuddin said that the Ministry of Manpower had not informed him about the case. However, he said that he did not see foreign teachers as a problem. "There might be one or two teachers, but we don't see any threat," Minister Saifuddin said on Monday, January 6.

No threat emerges as the Ministry of Religious Affairs has been carefully selected the teachers. The Ministry also monitors the teaching process. He said that the ministry would warn or repatriate the teachers should it found any theory contradicting with Islam.

Nevertheless, Minister Saifuddin has asked his Secretary General to discuss with the Ministry of Manpower to get the insight about the new regulation.
