REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, GRESIK -- Floods have inundated at least 763 houses in Gresik District, East Java, following incessant heavy rains since Friday.
The 763 flood-affected houses were located in 16 villages in two sub-districts - Balongpanggang and Benjeng, Benjeng Sub-district Head Suryo Wibowo said here, Saturday (20/12).
In Benjeng, floods submerged eight villages, namely Sedapurklagen, Deliksumber, Kedungrukem, Munggugianti, Lundo, Kalipadang, Bulurejo and Karangan Kidul.
In Balongpanggang, also eight villages were flooded. The villages are Wotansari, Sekarputih, Banjaragung, Pucung, Balongpanggang, Kedungpring and Karangsemanding.
District Head of Gresik Sambari Halim Radianto has instructed the local disaster mitigation office, BPBD, to provide relief aid and deploy rubber boats to evacuate flood victims.
