REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Government plans to bail out Lapindo to pay for remaining compensation for victims of mudflow in Sidoarjo, East Java. Coordinating Minister of Economy Sofyan Djalil said that government would provide 781 billion IDR loan, taken from revised state budget 2015, to PT Minarak Lapindo Jaya.

"We are not helping Lapindo. We help the suffering people," Djalil said on Friday, December 19. He emphasized that the measure would bring some consequences to be fulfilled by the company.

Lapindo must pay the loan within four years. Government will take certificate of land in the affected area valued 3.8 trillion IDR as a collateral. The company must pay the loan or government will seize their assets.

"The company will pay back," Djalil expressed his confidence.
