REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Djarot Saiful Hidayat is officially inaugurated as Deputy Governor of Jakarta on Wednesday. His inauguration is based on Presidential Decree No 144/P/2014 signed on December 15, 2014.
"I swear to fulfil my duty as Deputy Governor of Jakarta," Hidayat, who will serve from 2014 to 2017, said during the ceremony on Wednesday, December 17. He was inaugurated by Governor of Jakarta Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok.
Hidayat said that he would focus on tackling flood for the next two months. He promised to prepare several things to anticipate flood, such as building public kitchen.
"We can tackle flood alone. We have to cooperate with other cities in West Java," he said.
His other program is to limit the constuction of supermarket. Jakarta currently has 170 supermarket, making Jakarta as the city with the highest number of supermarket in the world. Hidayat said that supermarket caused traffic jam and decreased the number of Green Open Spaces.
