US becomes the main market of Balinese sculptures

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DENPASAR -- US becomes the main market of Balinese wood sculptures and handicrafts. It contributes to 24.82 percent of the export of Balinese wood sculptures and handicrafts.

"Foreign reserve from Januari to October 2014 reaches 62.94 million USD, declining 21.66 percent yoy," Head of Bali Statistics Agency Panasunan Siregar said on Sunday, December 7. 

The export of the art piece at the same period also declines by 2.54 percent yoy. It can only reaches 63.48 million USD. 

Other countries importing Balinese art piece are Australia which contributes to 9,19 percent, Thailand with contribution around 8.8 percent, UK with 7.27 percent, Germany with 6.19 percent, France with 3.27 percent, Singapore with the contribution around 1.65 percent and Japan contributing to 1.46 percent. The sculptures are mostly made by artists in Gianyar.
