REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Governor of Jakarta Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or known as Ahok will demolish illegal housings under flyover. Those who live inside the buildings are suggested to go back to their hometown.
"We do not tolerate housing under flyover. We have to clear it," Ahok said on Tuesday, December 2.
Illegal buildings often create problems, such as mounting garbage and fire. Most people who live in the buildings do not have Jakarta ID Card. Ahok suggested them to go back to their hometown.
Such policy has been running since last year. It includes demolishing illegal buildings in riverbank. Acting Mayor of North Jakarta Tri Kurniadi said that he would review each building license. He believes that the move eases the building of roads and dredging rivers to prevent flood.
