REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) backed group, People's Movement of Jakarta (GMJ), appoints Fahrurrozy Ishaq as "the shadow" governor of Jakarta. His inauguration is aimed to counter Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or known as Ahok.

"I vow to topple Ahok. In the name of Jakarta, I will carry out the task," Ishaq said after being inaugurated in Jakarta Legislative Council building on Monday, December 1.

He also asked Jakarta Legislative Council to help toppling Ahok through right of inquiry. He argued that it was not a personal interest, but public demand.

The unilaterally proclaimed governor of Jakarta, Ishaq will carry out 'blusukan' or impromptu visit to areas in Jakarta. GMJ also demands people to put sticker of 'new governor' in cars and houses.

Vice Chairman of Jakarta Legislative Council M Taufik said it was not necessary to dismiss the shadow governor as it would not hamper Jakarta Provincial Government. "It is a sign of disappointment," he said. He emphasized that Jakarta Legislative Council would not call the initiator of the shadow governor.

Meanwhile, Ahok refused commenting on the matter. "I do not have to comment on that. The counter is not fair," he said.
