Flood threatens Jakarta

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD DKI) stated that flood might inundate the capital city as rains of heavy intensity were expected to occur in Jakarta and its viccinity.

"We urge residents to remain vigilant with the possibility of flood," The Head of Informatics and Mitigation at BPBD DKI Endang Achadiat said on Monday, November 24.

The agency asked people to mitigate the risk by restoring sewer, managing waste and protecting valued documents and things. Those who live in flood prone areas must be prepared to evacuate and follow directives from the evacuation official. "We will always monitor the area and prepare officials to evacuate," he said.
