REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The ongoing 5th World Peace Forum (WPF) being held in Jakarta from November 20-23, 2014 seeks to encourage world peace, Muhammadiyah General Chairman Din Syamsuddin said here on Friday (21/11)

He noted that the 5th WPF, themed, "Quest for Peace: Lessons of Conflict Resolution", is an effort to attain world peace by discussing conflict resolution and methods to overcome conflicts around the world.

The forum is organized by the Muhammdiyah Central Leadership in cooperation with Cheng Ho Multi Culture Trust of Malaysia, and is supported by the Centre for Dialogue and Cooperation among Civilizations (CDCC).

Din remarked that methods of settling a number of conflicts in Indonesia would serve as an example to other parties from around the world.

According to Din, many participants from abroad were interested in the methods used to settle the conflict between the government and groups in Aceh and among communities in Maluku.

"Indeed, in each case the context of conflict resolution can provide distinctive, unique, and different challenges, but the lesson to be drawn from the difference is to promote a more secure peace in the world," he said.

Din added that the World Peace Forum aims to promote the principles, processes and methods of conflict resolution in bringing peace to conflict-torn regions.
