Indonesia purchases five drones to guard the country's outer islands

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) purchases five units of drones. Without mentioning the origin countries, Commander of TNI General Moeldoko said the drones aimed to boost national power.

"We have national made drones. We will use the imported ones to improve our drones," he said in TNI Headquarter, Thursday, November 13.

Indonesia is able to produce one unit of drone. PT Dirgantara Indonesia, Research and Development Office of the Indonesian Air Force and Agency for Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) ere hand in hand to develop the unmanned vehicle.

Earlier Minister of Defense Ryamizard Ryacudu said that he would import some drones to strengthen its primary weapon defense system. The drones will be use to guard outer islands of Indonesia. "We will purchase more drones," he said.
