REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Scientists from numerous countries have gathered at the Center for Science and Technology Research in Serpong, Banten province, to discuss the use of aeronautics and space technology to support the maritime sector.
The National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (LAPAN) spokesman Jasyanto stated here on Tuesday that the scientists from Indonesia, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Spain, and China exchanged views and information about the application of aeronautics and space technology in the maritime sector.
Jasyanto noted that President Joko Widodo, better known as Jokowi, envisioned the development of the maritime sector, and thus, LAPAN is supporting his vision by organizing the International Seminar on Aerospace and Technology (ISAST).
The scientists from Indonesia, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Spain, and China, and the representatives from Chiba University, TU Berlin, Konkuk University, Beihang University, JAXA, IHI Corporation, and Universidad Politécnica de Madrid participated in the seminar.
He remarked that the seminar was organized by LAPAN in cooperation with TU Berlin and the Chiba University.
According to him, the seminar was part of LAPAN's efforts to realize the importance of aeronautics and space technology in improving the quality of life in Indonesia.
